A lot of teenagers love sneakers. A mom from Sandy Springs, Georgia claims a 62-year-old man used sneakers to lure her 14-year-old son on Instagram. "It’s shocking,” the woman said to WSB-TV. “Very, very upsetting.”
The woman, who wanted to keep her son's name confidential, said that she saw strange messages from a man when her son was using her phone. She claims the man sent Instagram messages about shoes and clothes that escalated into traveling with him to Miami. “At first it was talking about normal things, like shoes and clothes and things like that, but then it got to be very strange."
Authorities say that the man is 62-year-old Mohamed El-Saawy. He met the boy at a shoe convention in Gwinnett County and then they continued their relationship. That's when the mother says the messages got suspicious. “There were some comments about sexual things, being comfortable with each other and undressing in front of each other."
The mother ended up setting up a sting meeting with El-Saawy during which police showed up. “She arranges the meeting, wanting to know what his plans were, what his purpose was in this,” said Capt. Chris Byers. “Everything that happened there built the probable cause we need.”
El-Saawy was arrested last week on several offenses, including enticing a minor.
