A St. Louis man is accused of subjecting his then-girlfriend to a horrific assault last February. Over the course of two days last February, 25-year-old Michael M. Damrell beat, stabbed and raped his girlfriend, at various points keeping her locked up in portable dog kennel. He is currently facing charges of kidnapping, rape, domestic assault and armed criminal action.
The charges say that on February 3, Damrell beat his girlfriend with a gun and a wrench, striking her in the head and body. He then locked her up in a dog crate, later stabbing her in the arm and face. He held her captive through the next day. At another point he dragged her by her hair from one room to another, and raped her.
Bail for Damrell was set at $150,000 cash-only. However, he was not in custody as of Monday when the charges were filed.
