A Bronx man has been arrested for killing his former high school teacher, with whom he sexual relations, producing a son. Isaac Duran, 23, has been charged with the murder of Felicia Barahona, 36, and their son Miguel. According to police, Duran has already confessed to the murders, saying he was upset with Barahona for interfering with his relationship with a new girlfriend.

Felicia Barahona was an Afghanistan war vet and met Duran when he was a student at DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, where she taught science. According to the city’s Special Commissioner of Investigation, they began a four-month affair on Duran’s 18th birthday in the fall of 2011, reportedly having sex liaisons up to five times a week. Barahona discouraged Duran from wearing condoms, telling him she “didn’t like” them and “not to worry.” Miguel was born in August 2012 and Barahona was fired by the New York City Board of Education soon after.

The super at Barahona’s apartment building at West 153rd Street in uptown Manhattan thought something was amiss when he hadn’t seen her since last Wednesday. He called 911 Monday morning after neighbors started to report a foul odor coming from the apartment. Inside police found Barahona lying dead on the floor with an electrical cord wrapped around her neck and Miguel, drowned in a bathtub. The city Medical Examiner has yet to rule on the cause of death.
