Police say a Baltimore man was shot dead, targeted in an execution-style killing, while he sat in a chair at the barbershop waiting to get his hair cut. Police identified the victim as 26-year-old Cody Boyd. Security cam footage filmed the three masked gunmen entering East Baltimore’s A Cut Above All barbershop, before they unleashed a barrage of bullets at their target as patrons looked on and ducked for cover.
"[They] basically executed the guy, shot him several times point-blank range and fled the scene," Baltimore police spokesman T.J. Smith told the Baltimore Sun. "The victim really did not have a chance to defend himself in this scenario." Police believe this was a targeted killing since no other people inside the barbershop were shot. One of the suspects is even seen going back into the barbershop after the initial shooting to fire more rounds at the victim.
Police are still searching for the gunmen, who fled the scene in a 4-door red Nissan. At one point, an off-duty police officer spotted the getaway vehicle but was unable to apprehend the suspects. It is the city’s eighth homicide in the first 12 day of 2017. Police are asking anyone with information related to this case to call 410-396-2100, text a tip to 443-902-4824, or call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
