A Washington man allegedly fatally stabbed his mother because he believed he was a werewolf and she was a vampire, said police, according to the New York Daily News.
Sheaen Smith, 29, told emergency responders this werewolves vs. vampires version of events during a 911 phone call on Sunday reporting the stabbing. Police found his mother, Aurora Buol-Smith, 57, in an upstairs bedroom with cuts showing that she had fought against the attack.
Just a few days prior, Smith had been in a hospital for meth-induced psychosis, reported The Bellingham Herald, a local paper.
“The defendant admitted to police that he’s been using a lot of meth recently, which is the reason for the voices in his head,” said prosecutor Eric Richey in court on Monday.
Police said that Smith admitted to the attack, and gave multiple reasons for it—police even tweeted that there may have been a sexual motive. Police are waiting for an autopsy to confirm whether or not a sexual assault occurred, according to the Herald.
Smith had been living with his mother following a break-up. He had been convicted of a misdemeanor assault on his wife in 2010.
