Massachusetts Jogger Murdered, Second Female Runner This Week To Be Killed

It's the second murder of a female jogger in one week.

By Eric Shorey

Earlier this week, a female jogger named Karina Vetrano was found dead in a marsh after dissappearing during a run.

Now, a second female jogger has been found dead, this time in Massachussets.

The two stories are suspiciously similar, with both ladies going missing during routine jogs. While Vetrano was strangled and possibly sexually assaulted, the Massachussets victim, named Vanessa Marcotte, was set on fire.

Police do not know if these acts of violence were random or if they were motivated. Massachussets police and the NYPD are working together to establish if the crimes are connected. At this moment, they do not think they are related but the possibility has not been ruled out entirely.

If you have any information on Marcotte’s death, please contact the Massachusetts State Police at (508) 453-7589. If you have any information on Vetrano’s death, please contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers tip line at (800) 577-8477.
