There's a meow mystery going on in Virginia. According to MSN/Associated Press, someone is shaving other people's cats in Waynesboro. Seven cats have been victims since December.
The feline barber is shaving the cats' underbellies or legs. Police Capt. Kelly Walker said that the pets have been otherwise returned unharmed. Walker says authorities aren't sure what crime specifically has been committed. However, the shaved cat owners "would just like it to stop."
One woman's pet was shaved twice and she believes that her cat has been mentally affected. Rebekah Martin tells NBC29 that her two-year-old rescue cat, named “Tigerlily,” has been shaved twice this year. "It hurts, because she can't tell me. I know it probably hurt her, probably not physically, but mentally that has to be really hard on her. She doesn't want to be picked up anymore," she said. "She used to be really nice and you could pick her up and hold her and everything, and now she just doesn't want to be picked up anymore."
