Missing 12-Year-Old Twin Girls Found Safe

Twins never made it onto school bus

By Sowmya Krishnamurthy

In the last few hours police announce that the two missing 12-year-old twins from Coral Springs, Florida have just been found safely.

Authorities became concerned Tuesday when the two sixth-graders, Rickhia and Nicolette McClam, were reported missing.  Police were told the twins were heading to the school bus to attend Forest Glen Middle School, but never showed up.

According to CBS Affiliate WQAM, when police began investigating they discovered a note left by the twins saying they were running away.  Police said the girls left with cash and clothes, but no cell phones, and were concerned for their safety. Authorities believed at the time they could be heading to New York to visit their biological mother.

This morning police announced they had located the girls at their grandmother's home in Pompano Beach.

Officials are continuing to investigate the events that led to the disappearance.
