A 33-year-old mother of two took the law into her own hands Sunday when she shot and killed a home intruder in Portland, Oregon. She discovered the 59-year-old stranger inside of her children’s bedrooms after returning home late with her kids, ages 5 and 10.  The family was uninjured, but remain traumatized by the event.

The mom and her two kids had recently moved into the house, which neighbors say had a checkered history. Prior tenants had allegedly been mischief makers and it had also been vacant for some time, leading to break ins by squatters. Police are trying to determine why the man was in the house in the first place. The woman is reportedly cooperating with local law enforcement.
