Mom Who Married Son Now Married To Daughter And Facing Incest Charges

An Oklahoma woman who had been married to her son is now facing felony charges after marrying her daughter.

As they say, truth is stranger than fiction. A 42-year-old Oklahoma woman, who had married one of her sons in 2008, is facing incest charges for marrying her daughter. Patricia Ann Spann wed her 25-year-old daughter Misty Velvet Dawn Spann in March 2016 in Comanche County. In 2008 she had married her son Jody Calvin Spann, however, that marriage was annulled 15 months later on grounds of incest.

The relationship was found out after a visit to the Spann home by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services during a child welfare investigation. Patricia told investigators she lost custody of her three children to her paternal grandmother. After being reunited, she said her and her daughter “hit if off” and got married in the hopes of adopting a child. She claims her relationship with her son was never sexual and was only an attempt to prevent him from military deployment and that she thought the marriage to Misty was allowable since her name doesn’t appear on her daughter’s birth certificate.

Incest is a felony in Oklahoma and punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The married mother daughter couple were arrested and released on $10,000 bond but are due back in court next month. For his part, brother Cody Spann is disgusted at the situation and puts the blame squarely on his mother. He told KSWO News, “She forced my sister into this, there's a lot of people that know it. For you to want to put your own daughter through this, what kind of person are you?”
