After a California carjacker stole a Honda Accord with two toddlers in the backseat, their parents must have feared the worst. But police said this morning that the car was located, and the toddlers were still safe and sound in the backseat, the AP reported.

The boys’ babysitter had left the young boys in the backseat while she got out of her car for an errand on Thursday night in the Southern California town of Cathedral City, at which point someone stole it.

An Amber Alert identified the boys as Jayden Cortez, 1, and Carlos Cortez, 2.

Police found the car in a nearby town about 12 miles away.

Investigators have not named a suspect in the aborted car theft.
