A day after releasing photos of a Christmas-loving creep who groped two women at a subway station earlier this month, NYPD found their man. Real life Bad Santa David Cruz, 33, was photographed wearing Saint Nick’s signature floppy red cap, with its white pom pom, the same day he grabbed two woman's derrières in a Manhattan subway station. Fortunately, the New York Daily News reports police caught up with him before he could grope again.
Both incidents occurred on Feb. 8 between 7 and 7:30pm, as the evening rush began to slow down. First, Cruz approached a woman on the platform of the 23rd St. Station on the Broadway Local line and grabbed her buttocks. She fled the scene but he stayed behind, later groping another woman's posterior from behind as she climbed the station’s stairs onto the street. Cruz took off, but both women reported the incidents to police who released photos of the suspect Tuesday, asking anyone who recognized him to help identify the not so merry miscreant.
Around 4am on Wednesday morning, members of the NYPD's Homeless Outreach Unit spotted a homeless man littering in Bryant Park, not far from where the attacks occured. Realizing he matched the desciption of the Bad Santa serial groper, they arranged a lineup and Cruz was ID'ed by his two victims. He has been charged with two counts of forcible touching. Police could not confirm whether or not he was still wearing his Santa hat at the time of the arrest.
