She was just seven days away from her due date when she was struck by a bolt.

A pregnant Florida woman was struck by lightning just seven days before her due date. She remains in critical condition at a hospital where her newborn also is being treated.

26-year-old Meghan Davidson was struck in the head by lightning on Thursday while walking with her mother outside her home, according to NBC2. Doctors later delivered Davidson’s baby Owen, according to CBS affiliate WINK-TV. Owen’s condition wasn't available.

Davidson is married and has two other children. A member at her church, Carol Bridges, said the mother is making progress in her recovery.

"Meghan is showing signs of improvement. They have lowered the amount of oxygen that she is getting and they have lowered the sedation.”

NBC2 reported that Davidson can react with her eyes when her husband Matt said her name.
