Rap legend Too $hort has been accused of rape. According to TMZ, the victim behind the allegations is his protégé. Authorities share that the woman says the incident took place November 1 at a home in Los Angeles.
The alleged victim says that the rapper sexually attacked her, and that she reported the incident a month later. Despite her professional persona, which is supposedly provocative, the woman told police that she was a virgin before the incident.
Sources from Too $hort's camp claim that he never had sexual contact with the accuser. They claim that she was released from his label, and that's when she made the rape allegations. They allege that the reported victim asked to get back on label, which they deem as extortion.
Too $hort has always had a controversial career, especially as it relates to sexual content and misogyny. He created a pimp persona for himself. In 1988, he broke out with the sexually-charged "Freaky Tales" - and who can forget 2003's "Shake That Monkey" or 2006's "Blow The Whistle"? On 1999's "Big Booty Hoes," he raps: "B*tch f*ck a first date/I pulled out my d*ck, she called me rude.... but then she ate it like food(tramp)/Then she noticed the limp and the whip/Recognize game, you've been pimped by a pimp."
In a 2012 interview, the rapper shared advice to young men on scoring with girls, which many viewed as an approval of rape culture. He later apologized, noting the difference between art and real life. "Although I have made my career on dirty raps, I have worked over the years to somewhat balance the content of my music with giving back to the community."
