A Lubbock, Texas man was sentenced to 15 years in prison Monday after being found guilty of domestic assault. Jacob Pauda, 31, viciously beat his girlfriend and threatened her with a knife, despite the fact that he knew she was several months pregnant with his child. Now the heavily tattooed tough guy might not get to meet his offspring until they’re in their teens.
Lubbock CBS affiliate KLBK-TV reports police responded to Pauda’s baby mama’s 911 call on Feb. 8, 2016. The victim had bailed Pauda out of jail just two months earlier. Now in a cocaine-induced jealous rage he turned on his girlfriend, accusing her of sleeping with another man. According to the police report, Pauda asked her, “You over there f***king that n****r?” Then Pauda then ran towards the victim "with a closed right fist punched [her] repeatedly an unknown amount of times on the left side of [the victim’s] face.”
Pauda later chased her with a butcher’s knife, threw her to the ground and “slammed her into the metal objects approximately 5 times.” The victim told police her assailant knew she was pregnant with his child. Thankfully she was eventually able to get away from him, with the help of her mother.
Rather than face a jury, Pauda went to trial before a judge. Because he had used a deadly weapon and there was bodily injury, the judge was not inclined to be lenient. He also said Pauda’s prior conviction on aggravated assault charges was a factor in sentencing.
