One of the stars of Netflix's breakout hit Stranger Things, Charlie Heaton, has reportedly been deported from the United States after traces of cocaine were found in his luggage.
According to Deadline, reports indicate that Heaton (a British citizen) was caught by drug-sniffing dogs at LAX after flying in from the United Kingdom. Anonymous sources indicate that traces of white powder, which were later confirmed to be a "very small amount" of cocaine, were discovered on his belongings. According to abc7NY, Heaton was not arrested as the amount wasn't enough to warrant any charges.
Heaton was sent back to the UK, leading him to miss the premiere of the second season of the nostalgic sci-fi series. He was not arrested because the amount discovered did not warrant any charges but was detained temporarily before being sent back to London.
Officials did not offer a comment on the situation. Heaton's publicist has also not offered a comment on the incident.
Simultaneous to the breaking of this story, it was revealed that Heaton has a child with an ex-girlfriend, surprising fans. Heaton had kept his child away from the public eye.
Heaton has previously starred in the films Marrowbone, Shut In, and As You Are. He is set to play Cannonball in the upcoming Marvel horror film The New Mutants.
