A teacher was caught having a sexual relationship with her student after her harassing texts were found on a burner phone.
“Whatever you do, please don’t shut me out,” high school science teacher Melissa Sue Bonkoski said in texts from March. “I’m begging you.”
Last week, Bonkoski was charged with felony sexual assault of her former student.
As Daily Local reports, Bonkoski was a teacher at Owen J. Roberts High School and gave the male student a burner phone to conceal her communications. “I thought I was being smart,” Bonkoski later told Pennsylvania authorities. Investigators traced her through the phone provider when a complaint of "harassing" texts to the student came in.
According to the criminal complaint against the 38-year-old, she allowed the 16-year-old student to touch her breasts and kissed him multiple times in her car. She also communicated with him about oral sex and let him sleep in her bed. He tried to cut things off and she continued to reach out to him.
On Thursday, she was charged with counts of felony institutional sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, unlawful use of a communications facility and corruption of minors. She was asked to leave her position at the high school and complied.
