A 23-year-old high school substitute teacher from Kettering, Ohio is accused of having sex with two male teenage students. Madeline Marx was indicted on two counts of sexual battery, WHIO reported on Friday.
The teacher was arrested earlier this month after police physically removed her from Fairmont High School in Kettering, where she subbed for two years, Fox 45 reported. Marx pleaded not guilty. She has been released on bond and ordered not to have any contact with the students.
According to court documents obtained by Dayton Daily News, Marx allegedly had oral sex with one of the students, a 17-year-old, in July. She is accused of having sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old student in September. Marx is also accused of sending nude photos to one of the boys through Snapchat and Instagram, which police say she has admitted to. Neither of the alleged sexual encounters occurred on school property.
Marx graduated last year from the University of Dayton. According to WHIO, she withdrew from a fall 2013 sexual ethics class.
During Marx's arraignment last week, attorney Keith Fricker entered a not guilty plea. People who had gathered at Marx’s relative's house yelled, “No comment!” earlier this month after being approached by the Dayton Daily News.
Marx’s job application stated, “I am passionate about children and their education. I am a hard-worker, who focuses on individual student’s strengths and needs.” In that application, she wrote that her top reason for wanting to be a teacher was “the ability to provide children an advocate for their education as well as their well-being.”
