A Georgia teen and her boyfriend allegedly murdered her grandparents and then tried to kill themselves with a knife.
According to WSB-TV Atlanta, 17-year-old Cassie Bjorge and 19-year-old Johnny Ryder are now in the hospital. Bjorge’s grandparents Randall and Wendy Bjorge were killed before the teen couple barricaded themselves in an apartment on Sunday morning. The cause of death for Randall and Wendy Bjorge has not yet been released.
Officers went to the grandparents’ home late Saturday night after receiving a call from an out-of-state relative who was unable to make contact with them.
"The family members hadn't heard from them in about a week, so they've been calling," said police in the report. "We've been out to the location before to make contact. This time, we actually entered the home."
Police arrived to find the man and woman dead upstairs. Police then responded to an assault call involving Ryder and his family at his apartment complex. It was there, according to the report, that investigators found a car that belonged to the deceased Bjorge couple. A standoff ensued with the teens at this residence. When law enforcement finally got into the residence, Cassie Bjorge and Ryder were found with self-inflicted wounds.
The teen couple is recovering from their injuries at the hospital. Police said the motive behind the murders is unknown at this time.
