Texas Mom Arrested For Leaving 4-Year-Old In Empty Warehouse In Mexico

Mother reported son was kidnapped

A mother in El Paso, Texas was arrested for abandoning her son in an empty warehouse in Mexico. According to a press release from the El Paso Police Department,authorities found the four-year-old named Luis in a warehouse in Juárez. Ruby Esmeralda Gonzalez initially told police that her son was kidnapped.

The press release states police determined that the mother took her son across the border on Feb. 22 and left him in the abandoned building. He was found the same day by local authorities. They believed that the boy was a U.S. citizen based on his familiarity of English. 

When Luis' photo was shared by local media, Gonzalez called police on Saturday and claimed that he was kidnapped. She was arrested Tuesday and charged with abandoning a child with imminent danger. She is being held in the El Paso County Jail on $10,000 bond. 

Luis is currently in the custody of social services.
