The only thing worse than being killed is being killed by someone in a creepy costume. The following costumes were worn by killers who committed nightmarish acts.
1. Jason Vorhees
A man wearing a Jason Voorhees hockey mask shot three people in Mississippi in September, one fatally. Roddrick Raheem Jones dressed up as the "Friday the 13th" villian before opening fire at an apartment building, according to Mississippi News Now. Apsiring rapper Kendrick Hughes, 30, died in the shooting.
A man wearing the mask worn by the "Scream" killers murdered 19-year-old Anthony Seaberry on a Brooklyn street on Halloween 2013. The teen was shot in the head, according to the New York Daily News. The ghost-faced killer escaped and the murder remains unsolved.
This year, police in Florida arrested a woman accused of dressing up like a clown to kill her lover's wife nearly three decades ago. According to a news release from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Sheila Keen Warren, 54, was indicted on a first-degree murder charge for killing the woman married to the man that later became Warren’s husband. Marlene Warren was shot at point blank range in 1990 after a clown wearing an orange wig showed up at her door.
4. The Serial Clown
Serial killer John Wayne Gacy was nicknamed “the Killer Clown” during his murder trial, where he faced the law for sexually assaulting and murdering 33 boys and men in the '70s. The nickname stemmed from Gacy’s sidejob: dressing up as Pogo the Clown for children's parties. But, he didn’t just put on the clown costume for parties. He sometimes dressed as the clown to kill his victims, according to Biography, whose bodies he often stuffed in his crawlspace.
5. Santa Claus
A man dressed up as Santa Claus opened fire at a nightclub in Istanbul as people were celebrating the start of 2017. According to the Associated Press, at least 39 people were killed and 70 others wounded during what was supposed to be a New Year’s celebration. There is just something deeply unsettling about someone in a Santa suit committing such a horrible act.
6. Freddy Krueger
