The Internet rejoiced when Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was destroyed. A man named James Otis took credit for the crime—even releasing footage of himself sledgehammering the star—but now he's in real trouble.
According to TMZ, Otis confessed to the crime and the case has been sent to the District Attorney. If the crime is prosecuted, it could be considered felony vandalism and put Otis behind bars for three years. A law enforcement source tells TMZ that the decision to take this to court isn't politically motivated.
Deadline Hollywood reports that Otis had a noble reason for destroying the star. Apparently, he wanted to auction the star off and raise money towards legal expenses for Trump's sexual abuse accusers.
What's interesting is that Otis isn't some random radical. Perez Hilton shares that he's a millionaire and had already stated he "wasn't afraid" of Trump or being taken to court.
