Tied Up Homeowner Breaks Loose To Shoot Intruders, Murdering One

Three shot, one killed, in chaotic Las Vegas home invasion.

A robbery/home invasion gone wrong ended in three people getting shot, and one killed. Two men broke into a Las Vegas home late Monday night and tied up a man and a woman with duct tape, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.

But at least one of the homeowners wasn’t tied up tight enough. The man was able to break loose, and according to KSNV News3LV, he grabbed a gun and began to shoot at the two suspects. He killed an intruder in the house.

Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Dan McGrath told the Las Vegas Review Journal, “I’m not sure how he was able to break free, but he was able to retrieve a firearm and shoot the suspect multiple times.”

McGrath added that the homeowner called the police and was not going to be charged. But, McGrath also said the he was not cooperating with police early Tuesday.

The other intruder escaped, but not without a bullet in his behind.

A man at the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada is being treated for a gunshot wound in his butt, and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department believe he is the second intruder. According to KSNV News3LV, he is also being uncooperative with police.

The woman who was in the home was also shot. According to police, she was hiding in a closet and was shaken up upon their arrival. She was treated in the hospital for a gunshot wound to her arm. It is unclear whether she was shot by the homeowner or one of the intruders. Both suspects were armed, according to the homeowner.

According to KSNV News3LV, this is the 31st homicide investigated by the LVMPD so far in 2017.
