Uber Driver On The Run After Groping Female Passenger

The assault by the 67-year-old driver might have been worse had the passenger not been on FaceTime with a friend.

An Uber driver is on the run after allegedly making unwanted advances on a female passenger. A 67-year-old driver named Edwin Ricci of Gainesville, Florida is on the run after allegedly assaulting a passenger in her 20s yesterday.

According to the Gainesville Police Department, the female passenger got into a 2008 Honda Odyssey van (Florida tag 876YHP) and says that Ricci was driving the wrong direction. "We are just going for a little ride," he said.  She told him to turn around and he refused, until he realized she was on her phone on FaceTime. At that point, he asked if her boyfriend would be jealous and stroked her hair, put his hand into her jacket and grabbed her breast. The woman hit his arm and got out of the van.

She later identified Ricci from a lineup. Authorities are now looking for him and ask the public to contact CrimeStoppers with any information.
