A Walmart greeter in Texas was stabbed yesterday afternoon.
According to a local NBC television affiliate, a man walked into Walmart, stabbed Marcus Polk with an unknown object, and then left. Polk was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released. A suspect was arrested a short time later.
"He came up right behind me and he stabbed me multiple times," Polk said in the report. "You're never prepared for that. I did not expect that to occur at all."
Polk told NBC 5 that the incident made him realize how much he is loved.
"I had no idea I touched people in such a great way," Polk said, after he read a slew of text messages and Facebook comments for him. "My time of need, they would be on my side."
Polk said he has seen the suspect in the store before, according to the report, but doesn't know him and they didn’t speak.
"I never saw him. He came out of nowhere," Polk told NBC 5. "I have to look on the bright side. It could have been a lot worse, you know."
The suspect's identity has not been released.
