A full on fistfight broke out between two men on a Los Angeles-bound plane in Japan Monday afternoon. Cellphone captures the two grown men exchanging a flurry of blows, which terrified passengers, including a baby. The man who set off the melee is presumably still in custody in Japan, however, the reasons for his violent outburst remain unknown.
According to CBS News, the All Nippon Airways flight was about to take off from Tokyo’s Narita International Airport when the passengers got in a dispute. As seen in the video, a belligerent bearded man in a red shirt got into an argument with another man in a black shirt. Witness Corey Hour, who filmed the incident, told CBS Los Angeles the man in the red shirt said “where are you from?” and “I’ll kill you” before charging the other man.
As fellow passengers ran for cover, and a baby wailed in the background, the two men exchanged blows. After being briefly separated, the man in red returned for another round, taking a hard left jab square in the mouth. He was heard ranting about the government and killing people as he was led off the flight. According to the airline, he then attacked a gate agent before being arrested.
Japan Today reports the man who was arrested was 44-years-old, and charged with assault. His name was note released but police say he was intoxicated at the time of the incident, however, fellow passengers said he did not smell of liquor. The flight, which had already been delayed due to inclement weather, was held at the gate for another hour and 40 minutes. According to CNN, All Nippon Airways released a statement apologizing to passengers for the delay.
