The wife of a Texas middle school teacher who killed two men after a Halloween party has been arrested for tampering with evidence. Police say Tiffany Heath cleaned up the blood in her husband Cary’s gun safe and on a rifle magazine, after he gunned down neighbors Daniel Haros and Phillip Evans following a brief conversation at a neighborhood Halloween party in Fort Worth on October 22nd. Investigators believe she was trying to destroy evidence and took her into custody last Thursday.
A motive for the killing of Haros and Evans remains unclear. According to witnesses, they had a brief seemingly friendly conversation with the middle school science teacher and air force veteran. Minutes later, Heath emerged from his house with an assault rifle and murdered the two childhood best friends. After shooting them, he beat their dead bodies about the head with the butt of his rifle. Heath admitted to the host of the party and to his wife that “I killed two people.” He was not taken into custody until the following Monday afternoon, after he had taught a full day at Permenter Middle School in Cedar Hill, Texas.
According to police Cary Heath is not cooperating with the investigation. He is being held on $1 million bail on capital murder charges and faces the death penalty if convicted. Tiffany was charged with tampering with evidence, a third degree felony in Texas which carries a sentence of two to 10 years if concvivted. She was released after posting $5,000 bail and has set up a GuFundMe page to help assist her with living expenses.
