Ruby Kate Coursey, 27, allegedly killed Troymaine Johnson, 33, by dropping him off at a dirt road in a hunting camp, which she accessed by crashing her car through a gate.
Johnson had no use of his legs, and only partial use of one arm, according to People.
“He was totally immobile,” said Sheriff Dan Kilgore to the magazine. “There was absolutely no way he’d be able to get out of there or call for help.”
As temperatures dropped to below freezing that night, Johnson died in the cold, he said.
“That would have been a very painful way to meet your demise,” Kilgore said.
Johnson was last scene alive on March 14 and his body was located on March 17, Kilgore told People.
Coursey is being held in the Upson County Jail on charges of felony murder and neglect of a disabled adult. She was arrested after she allegedly confessed to her brother and sister-in-law that she had left Johnson in the woods, and they responded by dialing 911.
“It’s sad that he left here at such an early age, but I believe that God is too wise to make a mistake,” said Sharon Rumph, Johnson’s aunt, to WMAZ.
