A Florida woman with a suspended license ran away from an accident after crashing her Nissan into a tree on Monday. She left behind a 6-year-old boy who was bleeding from the head in the backseat, according the Miami-Herald.
Police found 24-year-old Catie Boyer sleeping in a car on Monday in the Broward Health Medical Center parking lot 15 miles away from the crash. There, she was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident involving a non-serious injury, and neglect of a child without great harm.
Boyer has reportedly been convicted for driving with a suspended license in the past. According to the Miami-Herald, the woman owes $1,353 in traffic fines, and $383 from a 2012 possession of a controlled substance conviction.
The young boy received stitches for his head wound. According to NBC Miami, he was not in a car seat. The police affidavit doesn’t specify who put the 6-year-old in Boyer’s care or the relationship between her and the child.
