A woman became an everyday superhero when she jumped in front of a car to save a little boy. According to News 10, Shanta Jordan threw herself in front of an out of control vehicle in Bridgeport, Connecticut and likely helped save the child's life. Both were pinned to a stone wall.
Jordan's body absorbed most of the impact. “If she did not step in, the child would be in direct contact with the motor vehicle against the wall, and most likely, he would have perished,” Bridgeport police chief A.J. Perez said. “He would have died.”
The heroic act was caught on surveillance (Warning: Graphic).
Jordan did not know the boy that she saved. Both of them sustained serious injuries but are now recovering in the hospital. The driver, who is also hospitalized, faces charges including reckless driving.
Next week, Jordan will be awarded with a special tribute at City Hall.
