According to The Morning Call, a Poconos woman named Barbara Rogers fatally shot her boyfriend Steven Mineo after Mineo claimed to discover the leader of the cult they belonged to was a reptillian shapeshifter.

"He was upset with members of the cult, felt he was being harassed, and he was frustrated. And he asked his girlfriend to kill him. And she did," said Lt. Steven Williams of the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department.

The cult seemed to believe reptillian shapeshifters were covertly controlling human society through mind control. This belief is frighteningly common among conspiracy theroists and has been famously espoused by writer David Icke. The internet group Rogers and Mineo belonged to discussed these theories in detail.

"These apocalyptic movies [always] give you a glimpse of what's coming," Mineo wrote in a Facebook post reacting to the film Resident Evil: Veronica before the muder. "Become a [doomsday] prepper and get right with God!"

The Times Tribune says that the cult is led by an indvidual known as Sherry Shriner. Detective Cpl. Lucas Bray and Detective John Bohrman added, "The defendant related that she and the victim are members of a cult... Recently they became upset with Shriner... The defendant did admit there were tensions between the couple over issues with the cult."

Rogers was charged with criminal homicide and had called 911 herself to report the killing.
