A woman visiting New York City from Utah leapt to her death from a luxury high-rise in Manhattan on Saturday night. According to the New York Post, police have identified the woman as 36-year-old Gina Mari O’Brien. Police believe she jumped from the roof of the 26-story Symphony House. O’Brien’s body landed on the building’s terrace, located on the ninth floor.
A resident of the building saw something fall past his window around 11 p.m.. After hearing a loud noise, he called 911.
O’Brien’s backpack, which contained her passport, money and other personal belongings, was found on the roof of the building. As of now, police said her death is being investigated as a suicide. According to the New York Post, no suicide note was found. It is not clear why O’Brien was in the city or if she was staying at the Symphony House.
According to O’Brien’s Facebook page, she has been in New York City for over a month.
