'Cold Justice’ Investigation Aids In Arrest Of U.S. Soldier For Relatives’ Murders
Gene Alexander “Alex” Scott was arrested 16 months after his grandfather and great-grandmother were shot to death on Father's Day 2020.
A U.S. Army soldier has been charged with killing his grandfather and great-grandmother, a homicide case to be featured soon on Oxygen’s “Cold Justice.”
Gene Alexander “Alex” Scott, 24, of Columbia, South Carolina, was arrested on October 21, 2021 for the June 21, 2020 shooting murders of Gene Rogers, 61, and Billie Rogers, 78, reported msn.com.
Veteran prosecutor Kelly Siegler and the “Cold Justice” investigative team also looked into the Father’s Day double homicide in Richburg, South Carolina, an investigation that will be shown on an upcoming episode.
Scott, who was serving in the U.S. Army in Germany at the time of his arrest, was also charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He was immediately taken into custody by military police, reported wbtv.com.
Upon arrival in the U.S., Scott was transferred into custody of the Chester County Sheriff’s office. Chester County Sheriff Max Dorsey described the homicides “a crime of greed,” according to the outlet.
Before joining the Army, Scott served four years in the Marines. He is currently in custody in the Chester County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing before a circuit court judge, the Chester County Sheriff’s Office told Oxygen.
Chester County authorities, state police, the FBI, and officials from the Army and Navy have been investigating the murders since June 2020, according to Dorsey, reported the Associated Press.
On “Cold Justice,” which airs Saturdays at 8/7c on Oxygen, Siegler and her fellow investigators team dig into unsolved homicides. The show has helped lead to 52 arrests.
