Police believe a Michigan murderer who cooked and served one of her victim's remains at a barbeque was in fact a serial killer who murdered 11 people in the Midwest, according to a new documentary series.

The docu-series "Dead North" chronicles the arrest and accusations surrounding Kelly Cochran, 36. She was sentenced to life in prison without parole in May 2017 for killing her lover Chris Regan, 53, in 2014. In court, Cochran claimed she and her husband Jason shot and dismembered Regan inside their Iron River home in the state’s Upper Peninsula. Cochran claimed that her husband Jason helped kill Regan because they made a pact on their wedding night to kill anyone with whom they had an extramarital affairs, WJBK-TV in Detroit reported.

Cochran then served some of Regan’s remains at a neighborhood barbecue. One person who makes an appearance in “Death North” recalls eating a funny-tasting burger at that barbecue that she suspects was Regan. The rest of Regan’s remains were dumped in a wooded area.

Cochran also killed her husband Jason, 37, at their then-home in Hobart, Indiana in 2016 because she was angry that he helped take away Regan. She was convicted of killing him by injecting him with a fatal heroin overdose before smothering him, the Gary Post Tribune in Merrillville, Indiana reported. In May 2018 she was sentenced to an additional 65 years behind bars for his death.

“Death North” reveals that police believe her ex-husband and her ex-lover were hardly the only victims.

Cochran's family told investigators that she could be responsible for the killing of at least nine others. It is believed that the other seven bodies could be buried in Indiana, Michigan, Tennessee and Minnesota, according to WJBK in Detroit.

And the body count could be even higher than that.

“At one time she said that she had killed 21 people,” Hobart, Indiana police detective Jeremy Ogden told People. “On two occasions she told me that. I didn’t believe it. I think that she was stretching things, she was just trying to play a game.”

Ogden may not believe the body count is 21, but he does believe there are more victims buried somewhere.
