A pair of parents from Pensacola, Florida are accused of leaving a young boy in a trailer, alone, for months. Jennifer Nichols, 34, and Joshua Sanders, 32, were arrested a few weeks ago. Both have been charged with neglect, according to the Miami Herald.

According to an Escambia County Sheriff’s Office arrest report obtained by The Pensacola News Journal, the boy was living all by himself for about two months in the furniture-less trailer. Sometimes, the parents would drop by to give him money or food, the report alleges. It was the landlady who noticed that something was up, and she tipped off the cops. In fact, that landlady actually tried to talk to the parents before calling the police. When confronted with the issue, Sanders allegedly told her to mind her own business.

Now, the issue is also the Florida Department of Children and Families’ business. The father also allegedly claimed that his son was emancipated. However, the son told police that he isn’t. It is unclear if either Sanders or Nichols have lawyers who can speak on their behalf.

The boy’s age has not been listed. He reportedly has not been attending school.
