Man Found Guilty After Swindling Tinder Dates Out Of Thousands Of Dollars

The grifter bizarrely quoted "Finding Nemo" during his trial, saying he'll have to "just keep swimming."

Brandon Kiehm, nicknamed the "Tinder Swindler" by the New York Post, has been sentenced to between two and six years of jail time after grifting tens of thousands of dollars from women on a dating app.

“Through a series of elaborate scams, Brandon Kiehm exploited dates and acquaintances, swiping tens of thousands of dollars left and right as he emptied victims’ wallets and accounts,” Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. said in a statement.

Kiehm met three women on Tinder and told them variations on the same story: He needed money for a family member's cancer treatments. He met the first woman on Tinder in 2015, tricking her out of $14,000. He said he would pay her back, later issuing her a bad check for $5,000. He told a second woman his mother had cancer, scamming her out of approximately $11,000. He got $23,000 out of a third woman while out on bail after stealing $13,000 from a man who had employed him as a dog walker.

Keihm had also allegedly scammed another date out of $10,000, saying he needed to buy into a poker tournament.

The Lothario has now pleaded guilty to grand larceny, identity theft and scheme to defraud.

“I’m reminded of a short animated film I watched,” he said at his trial, according to the New York Daily News, bizarrely adopting Dory's catchphrase from "Finding Nemo." He said he would "just keep swimming" and make changes in his life.

“I think if you meant what you read... there is hope of redemption once you pay your debt to society,” said a moved Justice Michael Sonberg upon sentencing him.
