Tragic and Disturbing Cases of Child Abuse

These disturbing cases of child abuse resulted in the parents going to prison. Florida mother Shauna Dee Taylor, will spend more than a decade behind bars after poisoning her baby. Stephen Bodine of Wichita, Kansas was found guilty of horrific abuse and murder of 3-year-old Evan Brewer. The infant son of Robert James Burnette and Megan Hendricks died at 9 weeks old.

A Hawaii man who allegedly sexually assaulted children while babysitting them was found dead in a river, police said.

Jesse Puaa, 43, was found on Aug. 31, almost two weeks after the alleged sexual assault took place, according to the Honolulu Star Advertiser.

His name came to light after a post from Crimestoppers in Honolulu that said Puaa was wanted in connection with the alleged crime.

"CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Jesse Puaa who is wanted for sexual assault in the first degree and two counts of sexual assault in the third degree," the Aug. 22 post said.

On Aug. 31, Crimestoppers in Honolulu updated the post, thanking the public for assistance in tracking him down. The post did not mention, however, that he was found dead in the river.

Puaa was listed as 5' 7" and 200 lbs. The ages of the children are unknown.

Puaa was asked to babysit a man's children, and they later told their father that Puaa sexually assaulted them, according to the Honolulu Star Advertiser.

The CrimeStoppers Honolulu coordinator, Sgt. Chris Kim, told the Star Advertiser that Puaa's dead body was found floating in a river in Laie, which is located in the Koolauloa District, on the island of Oahu in Honolulu County. It's about 33 miles north of Honolulu.

Puaa's cause of death is not yet known, and police are waiting for the results of an autopsy. The Honolulu Star Advertiser reached out to the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office, but no information was currently available.
