A teenager living in Southern California has confessed to molesting over 50 children, according to police. The disturbing confession took place after 18-year-old Joseph Hayden Boston was turned in by his mother on Saturday after she allegedly found out he sexually assaulted two young boys at a motel that he had befriended.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Boston allegedly sexually assaulted an 8-year-old and a 4-year-old who were staying at that motel with their parents. Both victims are now in custody of Child Services.
"Hours later, the suspect called his own mother stating what he had just done," Riverside police spokesman Officer Ryan Railsback said in a statement. She, in turn, turned him in.
While at the police station, Boston admitted to committing even more sexual abuse. According to Railsback, the number exceeds 50. The children were allegedly molested in various locations where Boston and his family lived, including Riverside, Lakewood, and Buena Park. Boston allegedly began molesting children when he was just 10 years old, CBS News reports. It is unclear at this time if Boston has an attorney that can speak on his behalf. The Associated Press attempted to reach him with no success over the weekend.
Police believe there are other potential victims and are urging anyone with information contact Detective Paul Miranda at (951) 353-7945 or email@example.com.
Boston is currently imprisoned on a $1 million bail.
