An Uber driver stands accused of sexually assaulting a passenger while she was drunk, the Orlando Sentinel reported, in the latest instance of a driver for the ride-sharing start-up being accused of sexual misconduct.
Jorge Alberto Antunez Quintero, 38, was charged with kidnapping and sexually harassment for the May 21 incident.
The victim claimed she had requested a ride from her friend’s house to a hotel, and that during the trip, she passed out in the backseat, the Sentinel said.
The woman asked Quintero to pull over because she was feeling nauseous, he claimed to police, and when outside the woman pulled up her dress. She wasn’t wearing underwear, and Quintero allegedly told police he thought this meant she wanted sex.
Quintero took her to a different hotel then the one she had requested as her destination and carried the alleged victim to the room because she had difficulty walking, he allegedly told police. He then allegedly took off his clothes, got on top of her, and began kissing her.
However, he allegedly told police that he ultimately did not have sex with her because he
“thought of his wife and children.”
When the woman woke up, the suspect allegedly told her that she had hallucinated the encounter. She arrived at her destination two hours later.
Quintero is being held without bond at the Orange County Jail in Florida.
