Martinis and Murder Cocktail Recipe: Tennessee Mule

Pair this lively whiskey ginger cocktail with deadly Episode #75 “Murdered by Baseball Bat Beatdown.”

The Martinis & Murder team slayed at Crimecon in Tennessee, so what better that an Tennessee Mule on the first episode back in New York?

Plus, this drink is tied to the case this week, which takes place in the Appalachian Mountains and is the story of the murder of Shayne Lovera's husband. It looked like a tragic accident until the police dug a little deeper and uncovered a lust-fueled nightmare. Yikes!

The Tennessee Mule is basically a whiskey version of one of Daryn Carp’s favorite drinks: The Moscow Mule, which is made with vodka, ginger beer and lime.

For the drink nerds out there, Tennessee Whiskey is made like bourbon but with one extra step — it is filtered through charcoal to round out the harsh edges. Jack Daniels is the best-selling example of the category.

Here’s how to make it:


1 ounce Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 
3 ounces Ginger Beer 
1 Lime Wedge 

Stir and serve over ice, garnish with lime wedge. 
Try one (or a few) while listening to the episode (and Matt faking a heart attack). Spoiler alert: he’s still alive. Sigh.
