Martinis & Murder Cocktails: After Midnight in Kentucky, Episode #88

Bardstown is in the heart of bourbon country, so a bourbon cocktail was a natural fit for this episode, which examines the case of Crystal Rogers, who went missing, and her father Tommy Ballard who was killed soon after in what was deemed a hunting accident, all while investigating his daughter’s disappearance.

One of the most circulated photos of missing mom-of-five is of her during better times visiting the Maker's Mark distillery in Loretto, Kentucky, about 30 minutes away from Bardstown.

This recipe calls for DeKuyper Razzmatazz Schnapps Liqueur, but we couldn’t find any near our office. We substituted with pomegranate schnapps and it was still delicious — so feel free to experiment and pick a fruity flavor profile you like.

Here’s how to make the drink:

2 parts Maker’s Mark bourbon
2-3 large blackberries
½ part DeKuyper Razzmatazz Schnapps Liqueur
2 parts ginger ale

Muddle 2-3 large blackberries in a glasss with a splash of Razzmatazz.
Add in equal parts bourbon and ginger ale.
Stir gently.
Top with ice.
