Pair this Bloody Mary recipe with Episode #63, “The Avid Collector,” about the double homicide of a couple who were dismembered and thrown into a dumpster. The heinous crime takes place in Ocean City, Maryland, where Bloody Marys are plentiful (and go wonderfully with crab cakes). Drink two, and you may find yourself laughing at a perpetrator’s strange obsession with Hooters.
3 tablespoons (1 1/2 ounces) vodka
1/4 cup (2 ounces) tomato juice
A splash of Worcestershire sauce
A few dashes hot pepper sauce
1/2 to 1 teaspoon of horseradish
2 or 3 green, pitted olives
1 celery stalk
1/4 fresh lemon juice
A pinch of salt and a dash of pepper
Stir together tomato juice, vodka, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, horseradish, salt and pepper in a tall glass. Pour ice into glass and then pour drink back and forth between another glass to mix. Garnish with celery stalk, olives, lemon wedge, and top glass with lemon juice. Cornichons are also good! Recipe heavily influenced by Epicurious.
