Martinis & Murder Cocktail Recipe: Dirty Martini

Pair this classic cocktail with Episode #97, “The Strange Disappearance of Elisa Lam.”

We are in the midst of the month-long celebration that has become Halloween, so we picked a an appropriately badass spooky vodka to get back to our martini roots.

We used Crystal Head Vodka, which not only comes in a skull-shaped bottle but is also was co-founded by Dan Aykroyd because he wanted an additive-free vodka. The bottle shape is inspired by the legend of the 13 Crystal Skulls, for those of you into pre-Columbian Meso America lore or the least-good "Indiana Jones" movie.

2 ounces Crystal Head Vodka
½ ounce Carpano dry vermouth
Olive brine
2 olives


Add a splash of olive brine into a martini glass. Swirl the juice to coat the bowl and dump any excess. Add Crystal Head and dry vermouth into a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into the coated martini glass.

Sip it while learning about the case of Elisa Lam, whose death remains a mystery even though her last moments were caught on film.
