Martinis & Murder Cocktails: Gin and Tonics, Episode #91

There’s still time for a few more sips of summer.

A summer Sipsmith Gin & Tonic cart at The Chequit on Shelter Island (off the coast of Long Island), and a visit to a farmers market inspired this drink.

Setting up a make-your-own bar with different ingredients is a fun way to throw a party — and pass off some of the bartending work!

A classic Gin & Tonic is garnished with lime and is a crowd pleaser. But you can pick up your favorite fruits, herbs and even vegetables to make your own concoction. You can also experiment with flavored tonic waters if you want to get really wild. Are into sweet drinks like John Thrasher? Or do you want a spicy jalapeño cucumber version like Daryn Carp?

As the weather gets colder, experiment with what’s in season for a drink that will take you from the scorching summer weather info fall.

1 1/2 to 2 ounces Sipsmith Gin
Fever Tree Tonic Water
Lime to garnish

Fill glasses with ice. Add in desired amount of gin and top with tonic. Garnish with fruit, herbs and/or vegetables, muddling them a bit if you're feelin' it to release flavors.

We suggest that you throw a Martinis & Murder listening party and set out different options for your guests, and then cue up the story about Vegas Bray, a distraught woman who found her ex-boyfriend shot and called the police. Did she see more of the crime than she let on?
