Bishop Ron Gibson hangs out with some friends and colleagues in the barbershop.
They say he has too much swag for the pulpit.
The Bishop tells them he's going to preach to the General Board of the Church of God in Christ. It's a big deal.
His friend tells him to relax on the gunslinging.
"I've got a permit for my gun!"
Bishop Clarence McClendon's father was a bishop before him.
McClendon's son Cameron is also going to be part of the church. He's in charge of the music for an upcoming church service.
Yep, that's a McClendon throwback! He's got a musical background too!
Don't screw it up son!...is basically what he says.
First Lady Christy Haizlip and First Lady Myesha Chaney meet in Loretta Jones' restaurant.
Loretta's food is legendary!
Myesha is very put off by unconventional food...and by tattoos.
"How can you put tattoos with sin?"
Pastor Jay Haizlip is getting another tattoo.
Christy invites Myesha to the tattoo session to try and change her conservative perspective on ink.
Pastor Wayne Chaney tells Myesha he's considering getting a tattoo with Jay.
Bishop Ron Gibson and LaVette talk about the big, upcoming sermon.
LaVette basically tells him to tone it down.
Gibson says he'll either tone it down or ramp it up!
So....Jay is friends with this guy from Korn. He's a believer, too.
They talk about their ink, and how church-goers hassle them about it.
Brian says he's mocked in the rock 'n roll world for following Jesus.
McClendon's congregation awaits Cameron's performance.
He sings beautifully!
Everyone loves it!
Even McClendon is moved.
He brings tears to their eyes.
McClendon expresses pride for his son to his congregation.
Bishop Ron Gibson addresses the congregation and General Board.
The General Board is nothing like Gibson.
He mentions offhandedly that his suit is from Armani.
He also says the board didn't vote for him because he has too much swag!
LaVette can't BELIEVE he said that.
But he manages to win over the crowd.
McClendon and Cameron play in the studio.
This kid's got potential!
Pastor Wayne Chaney comes to Haizlip's tattoo session.
Bishop Ron Gibson stops by too!
They discuss the design.
Here come the ladies!
Christy checks out the design.
Myesha makes this face the whole time.
Let the inking begin!
The men are eating it up. Myesha, not so much.
Myesha hasn't changed her mind about tattoos, but she managed to step out of her comfort zone. Success!
