Summer is officially dead, and with the first hints of cool breezes in the air it's time to kick last season's songs out the way. We're gearing up with 5 hot tracks we think will have staying power through autumn. Here's our list of tracks we're loving.
“Koi” by Le1f
Released at the tail end of summer, we're placing our bets that Le1f's peppy party track will stay on everyone's playlist for a while. The underground rapper is teaming up with EDM producer SOPHIE for this twerk-inspiring vogue power-jam. Watch Le1f shake that ass like a calabash!
“Hotline Bling” by Drake
Subject to an NPR thinkpiece about emotions in the digital age, “Hotline Bling” is the prefect chill-out song for when you're hungover from an entire summer/early fall at the beach. Let Drake's smooth vocals soothe you into a Netflix and chill session. It'll be too cold to go outside soon enough.
“Elastic Heart (Sia Cover)” By FKA twigs
Artsy British ingenue FKA twigs recently released her EP M3LL155X but she really stunned us with her witchy cover of Sia's “Elastic Heart”. Get spooky with twigs in BBC Radio 1's live lounge, just ahead of October.
“What Do You Mean” by Justin Bieber
We're still not sure if we're ready to forgive Justin Bieber for his past transgressions but we're feeling his new, lower-key song either way. Could redemption really be on the way for Biebs? If this song lasts til winter, we're thinking yes.
“Coke White, Starlight” By Mykki Blanco
If you're looking for something a little darker, gender-bending punk rapper Mykki Blanco is back with her new industrial track, “Coke White, Starlight”. Blanco had been hinting at quitting music for a while, but this new song marks a change of heart for the alt-rap icon, who is also starting up her own record label.
