Bradley Cooper is remaking the classic A Star Is Born and there’s no better star than Beyonce to join him. The superstar singer is signing onto the legendary film, which was originally released in 1937 and then remade in 1954 with Judy Garland, and again in 1976 with Barbra Streisand. “Beyonce is a go,” said a source to Page Six.
According to the gossip outlet, Beyonce has been taking acting lessons and looking for “an iconic dramatic role.” A Star Is Born tells the story of a young woman starting in show business who falls in love with an older male star, whose career is on the outs. The remake is still in pre-production and won’t be ready to shoot until late 2016 or 2017. Bradley Cooper—who is set to direct—is still figuring out who will play the rest of the cast.
Beyonce’s last major theatrical role was in 2009’s Obsessed. Prior to that, she appeared as Etta James in Cadillac Records and Deena in Dreamgirls.
This could be a breakthrough role for the diva; previous versions of A Star Is Born have won big at the Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards.
