Brody Jenner has admitted to putting his foot in his mouth. The reality star is apologizing for his comments on Black Lives Matter, calling his opinion "careless and misguided."
The controversy began when Brody commented on an Instagram post about police brutality and Black Lives Matter. "I can't even watch the news anymore without getting pissed off," he said. "This has nothing to do with race. White, black, brown, any color...if you have an officer of the law telling you to exit your vehicle (or do anything for that matter)...you comply."
Critics blasted Kim Kardashian's step-brother for being ignorant of how police often treat black and brown suspects differently than say, a rich white kid from Hollywood. The 33-year-old has now taken his words back.
""After taking some time to reflect and learn a lot over the last few days, I want to address my careless and misguided posts last weekend," he wrote on Instagram. He continued by admitting he had no idea what he was commenting on. "Having done more research into the Black Lives Matter movement...I realize that my comments weren't thoughtful or substantiated." He closes by stating he solidarity. "I am a firm supporter of the African American community and I am grateful that my mistake allowed me the opportunity to increase my own awareness of Black Lives Matter, and hope that going forward we can continue this conversation in a positive and peaceful way."
