Celebs Remember Iconic Author Harper Lee

Celeb fans flocked to Twitter to share their condolences for the "To Kill A Mockingbird" author.

Harper Lee, author of the American classic "To Kill A Mockingbird," passed away today at the age of 89. Born and raised in Monroeville, Alabama, Harper is known and loved by many for her Pulitzer Prize-winning first novel, which has long been assigned reading in classrooms all over the world.

"The world knows Harper Lee was a brilliant writer but what many don’t know is that she was an extraordinary woman of great joyfulness, humility and kindness," said Michael Morrison, president of Lee's publisher HarperCollins. "She lived her life the way she wanted to - in private - surrounded by books and the people who loved her. I will always cherish the time I spent with her.”
