On Thursday, Billboard released a long profile on Chris Brown featuring interviews from friends, coworkers and past associates. Most of them chose to remain anonymous, and it’s pretty clear why. The profile alleges Brown has serious drug abuse issues as well as money spending problems. It calls him a low-rung celebrity, citing his recent ridiculous feud with Soulja Boy. The profile also brings up his issues with violence, especially against women, citing the recent restraining order taken out against him by his ex, Karrueche Tran.
Whether or not you believe the rumors, you’re probably not surprised to see that Chris Brown responded. AllHipHop reports that Brown recorded a monologue in which he claims that this article only came out because he’s doing so well and everyone is out to get him.
"Y’all gotta stop with this angry sh*t, going through drugs and all this other sh*t,” Brown says. “I’m tired of reading about some sh*t as soon as I got something popping. Soon as I want to promote a tour, party, or a f*cking album, anything, y’all bring up something.”
He also walks the camera out to the garage to show us a bunch of expensive cars. Considering the profile suggested he overspends on exactly that kind of thing, this isn’t the best defense, but he is showing that they’re no repossessed—yet.
Brown’s new tour is starting at the end of March, which would be a good reason to profile him whether or not you’re part of a grand conspiracy to undermine his work. How that tour goes will probably confirm or destroy a lot of the accusations in the article, so we all just have to wait and see.
